Am thinking of getting a towbar fitted to my Mk3 bus.
I've got Citroen parking sensors fitted, will they pick up the towbar meaning i'll have to get a more expensive detachable one?
Thanks

You should have a switch right-hand side of the steering wheel to switch off the sensors.

yeah got the switch, but i want the sensors to work when the trailer isnt attached, but am wondering if they will still detect just the tow ball part? If they will i'll have to get a detachable one. I know on some cars the tow ball sits low enough and close enough to the bumper to not be detected.

Unless the tow ball is in front (or extemely close) to one of the sensors it should be fine.
Get something tow ball size (piece of wood, plastic bottle, beer can, use your imagination...), put it roughly in same position, and stick it in reverse. If it's all quiet, you are ok.

Just tried it on a mates Kia (?!?!) with a small traffic cone we found (?!?!) and that was a perfect substitute for a tow ball.
His parking sensors were not activated.

It Sould not see the towball. If you have the Can bus ECU for the towbar electircs then as soon as you connect a Trailer plug to the back of the van the BSI should disable the Rear parking sensors.
