New Berlingo front fog lights.

Its taken 19mnths, but finally I got a smashed front foglight. When I got the car I asked if they did plastic covers? Unfortunately not. Citroen parts wanted £45 for a replacement but an ebay seller, Np-autoparts did them for £18.75 incl. postage so I went for that.

Made in Taiwan obviously but I wern't worried for a fog light. Fitting is diy & is covered in the car handbook under bulb changing as complete unit has to be removed to change bulb. Remove clips from splash guard under bumper. Push hand in, drawing a little blood as you remove connector by feel. Then, using Torx30 driver from car toolkit undo a single screw, feel painfully again for a clip to squeeze together & foglight pulls out from front.

Replacement is E marked & a perfect fit. To get Torx screw back in I stuck it to driver with blutack.

These car designers always make things simple don't they.Not.Imagine how much that would have cost at the stealers for supply and fit.

This is interesting. If you have got E mark for the replacement, then it’s definitely perfect on its fit. That’s cool, I am glad to hear more about your updates.

Yes, its got a E mark on, but I suppose anybody can make a light with an E mark on. Certainly I wouldn't buy cheap aftermarket parts normally but for a fog light, it didn't really matter.

If you have é mark, the replacement, then it absolutely perfect co-ordination. This is cool, I am glad to hear more about your update.

Thanks Opensause - I've got some Xenon bulbs to fit and was wondering the correct method.

N/S headlight was a :censored: too!

I've had two broken fog lamps in 18th months; the first one went to dealer and if I remember correctly I was mugged to the tune of £125 or so.

The second one happened a couple of weeks ago, I just bought a replacement cheapo off ebay (£18 or so), it arrived today, looked identical, a quick google search found the above post, and I had a go and fitted it myself. The XTR doesnt have the clips in the same position as the manual, and I had to bend a piece of mudguard on the underside out of the way, but once I'd figured that out it was pretty easy to swap with a bit of fiddling around.

And it works too...

When you put it all back together make sure you put copper grease on every single screw or nut.

I had to replace the foglight bulb on my old Renault Scenic,it hadn't been touched since it was new and was corroded to buggery,it was an absolute pig to get off (same fitting as Mk3 Blingo) and when it finally came free the torx screw had sheared.
I had to drill it out (I wasn't going to buy a new lamp as it was going soon) and re-fit the lamp with a self-tapping screw,which did the job and it was well secure.

My dad drummed it ino me from an early age,whenever you take anything apart,re-fit it with copper grease!

Yes replacement on the XTR is a bit hard on the hand as I mentioned earlier. I used the original bulb holder which is better than that on the cheap light. The replacement has been in well over a yr now & there is no rusting or water inside it so quaility appears ok.

Thanks for the recommendation - just found the passenger side broken. Ordered the cheap replacement.
That the 2nd hardest bulb to change! Only beaten by the Subaru Forester I had that required the entire air inlet system to be removed.
Thanks for the advice too - I'd never noticed the torx key in the toolkit before. Just long enough to get a purchase through the hole mentioned in the handbook (makes it sound SO simple). Guided it using my thumb, but it was pretty siezed. I tried doing it with the shorter section into the bolt, but no room to get any weight behind it. A pair of molegrips was the answer, and even then it took some effort to loosen. A smear of grease before it goes back in, and I'll use the blutack trick too.
