Mk2 -Mk3 down side?
#1
Hi all,an open question to help me make up my mind.
I have a '57 reg 1.6 Desire & would like to change/replace it for the right vehicle.
My problem is that the Mk3 seems too big for my needs, but what alternative?
Kangoo NLA & don't like anyway.
Doblo,dislike Fiat lack of reliability.
Roomster-too expensive for what it is.(bought my Berlingo instead of)
Mine has only 33,000m with no problems.
What would you do? I am tempted to keep it.
Please be gentle with me.

I think that the C3 Picasso is the most likely replacement for a MK11 Berlingo, cracking vehicle, might be a bit expensive yet

Thanks Lighty.I forgot to mention I had looked at that, they're more expensive & have too small a boot space for my mutts (& missus)

It's not the wrong vehicle,it's just that I can't find the right vehicle to replace it.That's why I mentioned the keep option.
If I got shot of 'er indoors & the mutts,I would buy a Smart.
Thanks for your caring remarks,I am deeply touched.Confusedalut:

Ron, A couple of years ago I changed my mk2 56 plate for a C3 Picasso but the car was a disappointment due to several factors:
Very small boot, lack of shoulder room inside when with front passenger, virtually no front storage areas, ( how I missed the over screen shelf ), quite hard suspension, reduced knee room for rear passengers, mine had a full glass roof which was murder in summer. Nowhere near as versatile and roomy.
Yes, the car had plenty of gizmos cruise control, speed limiter, auto folding mirrors etc but for my it was the wrong motor.
Last September I bit the bullet and bought a mk3 XTR which is perfect for my needs and I don't really find it too big. Hope you decide what to go for and maybe the C3 is the car for you but for me - not the case.

It's not,Addo, but I've had it 5+ years & also it would go to my son if I changed it.I was offered £4k P/ex by a Citroen dealer for a Mk3 Berlingo so I'd sooner give it to him.
My problem is that I like it a hell of a lot but fancy a change, although I can find no realistic replacement.Hence my keep it option.
It could be my brain is going or an insecurity issue.
Perhaps I should go out,dig a hole & jump in.

Thanks Taxi,I don't like Vauxhalls due to their "exploding"cambelt tensioner wheels.Did a few of those in my time & it left a bad taste.
The Altea didn't seem to "fit" me ,if you know what I mean.
It's a bugger ain't it?Confusedalut:

Well, you clearly want to help your son, so why not give him the well-maintained present Berlingo after you find an "end of the line" M59 with all the bits you want and super low mileage?

Persuade your dealer to let you have a Mk.3 for a couple of days...or hire one for a couple of days.
You might like it. If not then either stay with yours or look further afield.
However 33,000 is no mileage and if it was mine I'd hang on to it far a while longer.
I've been doing a bit of pondering over another car too and there really is no alternative to the Mk.2.
Apart from the niggles it's almost perfect.
I've had an offer to borrow a Merc. Citan Traveliner for a week-end! It's an ugly thing but then the
Berlingo is no beauty! Anyway as this one has all the toys and is free for a couple of days I'm going to
accept the offer.
The Older I get the Better I Was!  Cool
