Gears / clutch
#1
Here's the problem:-

When trying to put the gear into 1st it can be tough, no crunching just won't push in. It does eventually though

Don't know much about it but here's the type of answers I got but which one could it be or maybe a different answer

1. Linkage
2. Gearbox oil
3. New clutch

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you
Lliam

Curious, that happened to me yesterday. Had killed the engine at a stop sign, restarted and I could not get it into 1st to save my soul. After a number of tries (horns honking at the old fart) it went in, no grinding, just difficult. After that all is fine again.

Did double clutching make it easier?

I did a how to on changing gearbox oil, it's a pretty simple task;

Hi,
New here, looking for info regarding changing clutch.
On your problem; I would suspect the clutch wire. It has a selfadjustment feature that sometimes slip. Sounds like your clutch didn't release properly. The wire readjust everytime you push the pedal (or maybe every release).
We realized "pedaltothebottom" in afternoon traffic in a tunnel under Oslo, made a real trafficjam. Thought the wire broke, but after getting the car home we saw that just lifting the pedal by hand fixed the whole thing.
After driving a while with the wire more and more often slipping, I replaced the wire (painintheassjob). At first startup weird noises came, and I now have a complete clucht failure. Small balls from the releasebearing falling out, and the realese arm sticking out in a weird direction. :brickwall:

By the way; this looks like a great forum. Thanks.

It's a "desease" of all M59, especially after commercial usage.
