gearbox removal
Hello, just doing my clutch, saw a thread about it on here but said I had to make a post so hello, pretty sorted just want to check how to remove the gear linkage and OS driveshaft

Once you've cracked the hub nut, you either need to disengage the ballpin from the hub carrier or (earlier models only) you can shonk it and unbolt the balljoint from the lower arm. Don't forget the droplink removal. That gets you the splined bit out, as you can slip the hub carrier and hub off the splines, and push it towards the radiator.

Now you need to release the centre bearing from its carrier; there are two "hockey stick" bolts where you undo their self-locking nuts about ¾" and then push the bolts through towards the offside, rotate them 180° and the bearing is free from the carrier.

Gearlinkages prise off, but use a forked tool that pushes right on the innermost part of the sleeve - not on the outer ring of the coupling.
