[Engine] ANY USED TERRA CLEAN TO FIX EGR PROBLEMS

REPOSTED AS THINK I PUT IT IN WRONG SECTION

Hi,new to forum so hope this actually posts, im having problems with my berlingo 2006 2.0 hdi multispace keeps going into limp mode and on my reader coming up with errors p0400 and p0402 which it says relates to egr valve, i delete the faults and sometime it works for a 15 miles sometimes 15 yards.

Anyway went to my local tuning garage think i would get it blanked and disabled off ecu but i have the siemens ecu and he said he couldnt do it nor remap it and recommended a garage who do terra cleaning which might solve the problem.

looked on the terra clean website and seems to look like a good idea but is it cleaning the crap and lodging it elsewhere down the system.

cant decide what to do, love the car its my second berlingo and i intend on keeping it for a fews years so do i just get a new valve as not sure if blanking it off will cause the engine light to remain on or do i try this terra clean flush proceedure.

any help and advice would be appreciated i just want to get it sorted as its lethal trying to join dual carriageways at 15mph

Went to their site & read all the guff.
There was NO mention of cost anywhere,I wonder why?Confusedcratch:
When I was in the motor trade I used to dunk carbs etc in cellulose gun wash after removing any synthetic material.I wonder if this would be safe with EGR valves as it dissolved anything.A good blow through with the airline left everything looking pristine.

It'd be OK; look at the noxious rubbish that passes through an EGR. My pet hate is cheapskates topping up the parts washer fluid with petrol.

100PSI through an airbrush full of thinners works well as a solvent/jet wash for old carbies, too.

£90 for upto a 2 litre engine it costs for terra clean. But new egr valve from dealer is £76 plus vat. But thought it might be worth while getting the system blasted first then fit new egr valve

Remove the EGR valve (it's notdifficult, just a bit fiddly) and give it a good and thorough clean up. Make sure you clean the valve and thepipework also where the fumes enter the inlet. Make sure that the vacuumpipes are clear too.

This should solve most problems, unless the assembly is completely shot

I just bought an EGR blanking plate of ebay for a few quid. loose of the 2 EGR bolts and slide the plate into place and tightened up the 2 bolts.
Berlingo running much better and the engine warning light disappeared.

Which bit of it do I need to remove Coco? Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated. Mine's an 04 plate Siemens 2.0 HDi. Do I just remove the valve itself (I take the valve to be the assembly with the vac hose attached to it at the top right of the engine, the oval thing) or do I need to remove all the associated pipework too? It's sticking open - or I think it is. It's hesitant picking up from the ovverun and economy seems down. I disconnected and blanked the vac pipe. It ran like a dream, but threw me an EML, so I cleared the error with Lexia and recinn reconnected it.

One of the members reports that the oil stays cleaner longer as a result.
I cant remember exactly but someone else wrote of some heinous problem that it apparently caused..

Not advisable until any warranty has expired gentlemen:whistle:

The reason your motors get gunked up is you don't use them enough! Diesels need to be run at 2500rpm for a good length of time every now and again.

Diesels aren't designed for short journeys and town work. Petrols may not be as efficient but short journeys is their forte.

I bought a blank of eBay too but the tuner I saw said it would always have the engine light on which put me off. Anyway I'm gonna take one for the team and the Berlingo is booked in for this afternoon for terra clean. Watched few videos online of it and figured ah what the hell I'll treat the old girl. Will report back on that one

I do long journeys daily in mine and it does get a good blasting I don't drive like no nun ha ha
