Wear and Tear?
#1
Here we are at 2 years and 7 months, 56k.

So far ive had the front struts replaced under warranty and both front drop links replaced under warranty when the car was no more than 1 year old. O/S/R passenger door bracket replaced under warranty when the car was 5 months old. Lighting for heater control panel replaced car 4 weeks old under warranty. Berlingo badges on sliding doors replaced under warranty, flaking 1 year old. Power steering fluid leaking onto alternator when I say leak its more of a weep been like this for a while and need to top it up every so often. New brake calliper NOT under warranty WEAR and TEAR!

I called Citroen Glasgow and Citroen UK regarding these other issues and told me its wear and tear and would not do anything for me.

I had peeling paint on the door runners which were replaced under warranty after I emailed Citroen UK. My dealer said he doubted Citroen would, but they did. Did you say car is used as a taxi? I suppose this is why they are claiming wear & tear on seats & door rubber & also caliper. I suggest you keep emailing Citroen UK & make your feelings known some more. Its not worth arguing with dealer because they will only do warranty work if Citroen UK agree to pay so at all times you need to be leaning on Citroen UK.

In my experience, most taxi drivers keep their cars in very good condition and well maintained- Ok, there are more bums on seats etc, but these parts are in my opinion clearly not up to the task expected.
Considering the custom that Citroen UK obviously gets from Taxi / PH drivers they should be given a far better service-" don't bite the hand that feeds you " comes to mind. Lots of taxi drivers also get asked by passengers about their opinion of the ownership experience of cars they drive.

I'd suggest there are probably deliberately instituted "hurdles". If PSA acceded solely on the strength of a vexed phone call, there'd be backyard dealers sending them broke all the time.

An actual written letter with photographs and other carefully presented evidence, would be a good start - got to be worth it for rectifying many of the issues pictured above. If PSA failed to respond within a reasonably nominated timeframe (say a fortnight), you'd not bugger about hassling them again, but go direct to Fair Trading.

You also have to bear in mind that PSA are on the up and up!!
The figures issued at the end of last year showed that they only
lost 52million Euros!! How??

PSA do need to up their game generally what with other makes now having 5 & 7yr warranties, even Vauxhall now have a 'lifetime' warranty. As I mentioned on another thread, after half a dozen emails I suceeded in getting a £300 cheque from Citroen UK partly refunding £520 bill for egr valve replacement at 3.5yrs. The content of my emails was pretty heavy on the poor warranty of Citroen compared with other makes so they do listen to reason in the end.

Reply from Citroen UK, if its a mechanical problem or manufacturing defect we will replace the parts not for wear and tear.
Said to them, a lot of taxi drivers buy the Berlingo now and if Citroen will not replace parts then they won't buy again. She said I hear what you are saying but only mechanical problems. I then went on to say Skoda and other cars I've had never had any problem with warranty work, she replied all car manufactures are different. In other words I'm f**ed.

Is it time to talk to trading standards?

Perhaps sale of goods act - not of merchantable quality.

What is the expected mileage of these products? It may be worn but should it be that worn given the mileage and use?

Philip, I am also totally shocked with the way Citroen UK appear to be treating some customers complaints. But I still think the more people who complain, the better.
You would think that in this economic climate their attitude would be better. :brickwall:
I have also contacted Citroen UK about my cars problems and await a reply.

Don't get done, get Dom Rolleyes
