Would you pay for an engine flush?
The berlingo is in for a minor service, they offer an oil and fuel flush for an extra 20 quid. Worth it or just easy profit for them?
I haven't heard anyone say much good about flushing. Most of the things I've read seem to have people concerned about dislodging stuff which could make its way into fine oilways. Having said that I have used a flushing oil but on a BL A series engine which could probably cope with anything.
If you've used the proper oil and changed it at the correct intervals you shouldn't need to have the engine flushed.

Stupid computer!
Security system should not fail safe!
Security system should fail dangerous!
Easy profit, waste of money.

I would put the money towards more frequent oil changes.

Not many diesels recommend engine flush before oil change, what is yours ? Petrol engines with hydraulic tappets benefit from an occasional flush.
So where does this bit go then ?
It was discussed last year.

I would strongly recommend a flush on the 1.6 HDI, especially the Forte flush. I have nothing to gain, and dont believe in additives, but for this engine it does wonders.
As I have said before,I use Forte flush& have done for years.

SummaryBig Grinamned if you do and damned if you don't

Whatever you choose,do it yourself so you know its actually been done.
I use Wurth flush when I consider it offers a benefit; it's the most readily available of trustworthy brands. I don't believe it should be sold up as an "extra" to people; like putting coolant in the radiator it may be considered part of a process deemed necessary by qualified tradesmen.
