Early 1.4 Timing Belts
#1
Lightbulb
I'm always slightly afraid (if that's the word) of this 17mm wide wonder. There is plenty of real estate on the cam, tensioner and water pump for wider belts.

Gates' catalogue shows a belt (P/N 94398) with the same tooth count and profile, yet 25mm wide. I'd be tempted to try this another time and see if it works.

This doesn't apply to motors with the 104 tooth belt, only those prior (to about June 2000).

Although the original belts lasted,I would be tempted to go for the wider belt.Gates belts & other rubber products Are very good & don't fail when stressed.:whistle:
