I am not sure what the order of the kenwood would be that's why i made sure I labeled it with sony to say it was definitely for that brand. But also put up the Berlingo side so you know which wires, once you know to connect to

why not just do it right, less drag on the battery.

if ya do it that way every time you open your van the radio comes on, like mines opened and closed many times a day getting tools out of the back, also you cant leave the van open, radio will stay on.

take the extra 10 mins to do it right

Am I right in thinking that the permanent live is not? Permanent, that is?
Does this explain why every morning the cd has ejected itself?
Thought it was the music pixies in the middle of the night listening to my tunes....
So after a certain length of time the permanent live ceases to be permanent, or live?
If so this is starting to make sense.
Sort of.:brickwall:

This confused me for a while when I fitted my Wharfdale unit on Friday. There is a permanent live and also (for want of a better term) a not-so-permanent live.

The not-so-permanent live remains live for a minute or two after you switch off the ignition then switches off. It also becomes live again when you open the doors! As I was sitting in the car with the doors closed at the time, I didn’t realise this. I checked one wire with my multimeter when I switched the ignition off and it was still live, so I connected the permanent live from the head unit to this. Next morning the radio came on when I opened the doors and I found that all my stored radio stations had been erased.

To find the “real” permanent live feed I switched off the ignition and waited 5 minutes before checking the wires again with my multimeter - at this point the not-so-permanent live will be dead.

For the ignition switched live, I used the accessory wire (Orange A6 in the pics posted previously). It all now works as it should

Well my adaptors arrived today so I´ve just been out and fitted my Kenwood speakers. Only took around 10 minutes and I´m quite pleased with them. I already have (Citroen) tweeters in the dash, but with these speakers everything sounds crisper & clearer. Whereas I used to listen to everything "flat" as it sounded muffled if you increased the bass, I´ve now upped the bass a couple of notches and it sounds really clear.

Unfortunately the fancy grills don´t fit so I had to use the originals. The mistake I made was to sit in the back and listen to the rear speakers - looks like I´ll have to save up for some more Kenwood speakers

The Kenwood speakers I ordered [KFC-E1762C] have a socket for the original Citroen speaker plug so I haven't used the adaptor. As with knobblywobbly, I increased the bass slightly (+2) and the sound is good. I have Citroen tweeters in the dash already.

STOP PRESS

Just looked in at Halfords and they are on offer at the moment with 15% extra off. Quite a cheap upgrade for around 30 notes!!!

I put my Kenwood's in today also with the adaptors.

Fronts are now much better.

I also upgrade the rears for some Sony 25 watt rms output ones and to be honest can't say they are a whole lot better as the rears are very small 4 inch speakers. A bit more crisp be very little base to them.

The ones I fitted were bigger at the rear, so I used some longer screws and they just fit in the housing. Unless you re going to splash out £60+ on some top notch 4 inch speakers with 40 watt RMS, I doubt you'll get any huge benefit.

Next stop - a new head unit Smile

They might sound better with that perhaps...
