Berlingo front seat
#11
Dear All,

Thank you for your comments.

There are van front passenger seats available that fold - which is what I am after. They look like the ones fitted to my multispace, but may be a bit higher if there is a storage space beneath. Dealers are selling second-hand folding seats for around £70 which sounds a bit toppy to me.

As Romahomepete says, it will need some ingenuity to get the outer runners to work. I am not sure if there are the same mounting points in the multispace inner sill as on the equivalent van.

What I could do with is some guidance on just how ingenious I will need to be to fit it with different runners or a plate welded to the inner sill etc. to take the runner on the new seat.

Has anyone tried to do this?

Many thanks.

My drivers side has the captive nuts for seat mounting.

Not checked my passengers nuts though.....:whistle:

Well, we did it.

I found a 2002 van passenger seat. It is fairly similar to that in the multispace but does not have runners or back adjustment- but that is the passenger's problem ... so it is not quite as comfortable.

It needed a bit of weld and some thread bar to connect to the captive bolts in the sill. There is no modification to the vehicle so the original seat just bolts back. The mod took about an hour.

It is very handy to have the table and also the seat folds again to almost tuck away under the dash. Overall, quite successful but not so comfy.

The seat cloth pattern is different but we have covers. The table part on the back of the seat easily screws off and screws back on over the seat cover so it all looks nice.

I mentioned the mod to the insurers on renewal but they didn't seem bothered. You would, of course, have to take advice and judge for yourself how safe it is before modding your own.
