Off road Berlingo
#1
Just been to check out a few new fishing spots, you can drive to the side of the ponds, just!!

Some of the roads are a bit rough to say the least, but the ground clearance of my Berlingo ( I have put 15" wheels on mine so gain another 1") made mincemeat out of it.

Well, it wasn't really off road, but it did impress me how the suspension soaked up the ruts.

Love my van I do :p

It is good to have the extra clearance.

I have an LPG tank at the back in the spare wheel well, so have to be a tad careful.

Technically, don't you gain half an inch clearance? Half an inch below the axel and half an inch above it?

I measured the old wheels against the new and the diameter difference was 2" due to bigger tyres on the 15" wheels :p

They do a "proper" off-road Berlingo van (read a road test report somewhere, recently).
Still 2-wheel drive, but higher ground clearance, better suspension, underbody protection, etc.
Think it is to appeal to people on building sites and the like.
Road test rated it pretty good.
See if I can find the test and link it.

Hello steve, don't know if yours is similar setup to my multispace 2.0HDI but mine has the Siemens fuel injection system and has a fuel cooling plate beneath the vehicle which may be susceptable to knocks if you bottom the vehicle out say in a double rut or similar. Don't want to go knackering that up!!!

Even with the extra clearance, some roads are just horrible.

We stayed in a guest house in Stockport last year and the road to it was unmade, 2mph was fastest we could go :notcool:
