Berlingo 1.9d not starting in morning
#1
So my Berlingo won't start in the morning. I've had heater plugs replaced, I've primed fuel pump until it's firm, no air bubbles and still no start. I have to get a push start every morning to get it going but once it's going, it will restart generally fine after that for the day. Managed to get it started with easy start spray too.

Any ideas?

Are the glow plugs coming on?

I don't know, but the mechanic doesnt seem to think they are the problem.

You need fuel, air, compression - and a little warmth to kick it off. I'd first check the glowplug relay, then the pump timing. Not sure what cold start mechanism it has on the pump, but someone else will have an idea on checking this detail.

My cold start mechanism wasn't working when I bought the car. Someone had tweaked it so it was permanently on fast idle. When I reset it to normal idle it wouldn't start easily. Or rather it would start then it would die until the engine had warmed up a bit.
I'm fairly sure someone on here told me the part no. then I bought one but can't remember if it was from the dealers or from ebay. You'll need a 32mm spanner if you do decide it needs changing.

A few days i has one Berlingo 1.9d whit that problem. The glowplug relay burn and don´t work. Put a wire in the positive of the batery and on the glowplug and turn on the van... If it works is the relay...

sorry for my language.

It's on the passenger wing

Yes, in the UK, is in the passeger wing, on side of the headlamp. It´s green. And cost 58€ on the Citroën here...

It will be the valve clearances, the valves recede into the seats with mileage, and then you loose compression as they begin to not close properly. Usually happens at @120/140 K miles.
I have had to do them twice on my C15 van 267K miles nowSmile
This is assuming glow plugs working, and no air in fuel, which you seem to have done already.
