Electrical?
#1
Something happend this morning, i tried to use the windscreen washers but when i pulled back the stock nothing happend. To get the washers to work i had to activate the wipers then pull back the stock. I tried again to work the washers and they worked fine!
Another thing was the indicator flasher made a louder noise than usual.

We have found that if you turn the engine off while the wipers are still switched on it can do funny things when you next try and use them. Simply turning them off and back on again cures it (Or turn them off before switching off - but we're not that organised!)

If wipers , back and front are on when you switch engine off then when you start car again the wiper switch will be in "on " position but wipers wont be working. You have to turn them off and on again. Annoying little quirk, probably something to do with eco mode......some stupid engineer / designer thinking up the idea, but never having used / tried it first. Bet he got a bonus for it as well???? I would give him a "bonus" right up his bl--dy a--se!

This has been common practice from at least 1994, thinking back to my ZX days. When stuff is left switched on such as wipers, rear fog lights, heated rear window and then engine shut down, it is neccesary to reset the switches again during restart.

IMHO, a good idea otherwise you will get the clowns leaving the heated rear windown and/or rear fog lights etc on all the time..

new to me Andy, if someone leaves such things on then surely its their stupid fault, do all new cars have this or just Citroens?
My company cars [fords] never had this, but I stopped getting them in 2001 when I was last made redundant and decided to up the world and work for myself after 30 yrs.
Old bangers from then on, well at least not new until this latest purchase.

I would still ram the eco mode up the engineers rear eco though.....just cannot see logic in that, only frustration.

Don't know about other "new" cars, Pete, but seems to run commonly thro' the Citroen marque. Maybe others can say different but certainly for me I have to switch HRW and rear fogs back on again after restarting engine.

The jury is still out on the dubious quality of rest of the wiring throughout the vehicle and I think it is sh*te :!::!::!:

The wiper thing has it's benefits.

If you've switched off with them left on, it's handy that they don't try and spring to life the following morning when they are frozen solid to the glass.

Saves on a new wiper motor.

That's one of the reasons I thought that feature was there as it's easily done.
