DW8 - the secret of going faster
#1
Ok I know i have a C15 which is like the pikey version of the Berlingo
but its the same lump as early ones ok?
Anyway.
I never expected an adrenaline rush when driving it but always felt
it was flat and had no get up and go
I serviced it, ripped out the EGR, CAT and all that malarkey but it didnt give it much more pep.

All thats changed

This weekend I whipped off the plastic radiator grill and sprayed it pillar box red and the bar across the back too for good measure.
The paint was 3.49 a tin but to hell with the expense I needed more power!
What a difference!
The vans never run so well, it picks up like a good un and can get up to 75 in short order, not eventually like it did before.
Not sure what the top end will be but enjoying the livelier pick up for now.

So, its red paint you need ok?
Bright red !

While I was in there I tidied up a few other things and noticed the throttle cable was 5 clicks too slack and only opening the pump about 75% and sorted that
but I reckon its the paint that did the trick

DPF on a DW8 engine?

Are you sure that you don't mean the catalytic converter?

Removal of EGR and "cat" are common mods. When my cat falls apart I will make sure that there is a pipe straight through it. I asked at my local MOT station where I know the tester quite well. This is his take on the rules for our Berlingo camper. They only test for black particles on the test, they do not analyse the CO2 content. It does not need a catalytic converter except if the manufacturer fitted one then it should be there.
However as long as the outer casing is there they will not check that it works. Same with the EGR, he will lokk for its visible presence not whether it works.

Any 12 year old will tell you red cars are fastest, how long will it take for everyone else to catch on and every car on the road will be scarlet.
So where does this bit go then ?

This explains why my car's performance isn't quite as "sparkling" as it once was. The paint is fading!

Really?

What about
Used to be white, still kinda whiteish but a bit shabby looking now?
Any good?
Mind you, the red grille makes it go fast and people saying it was the poorly adjusted throttle cable making it so slow is just superstitious nonsense
Its the red paint see?
Just need to find some chequered tape to run down the sides now.....
