Air Filter

Bought my Berlingo 1.6HDi 110 at the start of August with 38071 miles on the clock.
The garage gave it a service before I picked it up, but I don't know if they changed the air filter, as the 'Maintenance and Warranty Guide' says to change it at 40000 miles.

Can someone tell me from the pictures below whether it looks like the air filter has only done just over 2000 miles or does it look like it has done 40000 miles

I hope they did change it because I'm not keen on having to take it all apart again as it was a bugger of a job, especially the three allen headed screws.
There is plenty of room in the engine bay, why put the air filter tucked up under the dashboard

Yep, quite a recent change for that , certainly not done 40K

I change air filter after every 20k km (12k miles). First time when i change after 40k km (22k miles) like recommend dealer, filter looks rly bad.

Now I'm using K&N high airflow filter and I'm cleaning it by my self - its reusable
