I have been following this in Autocar with interest, as I already have a Twizy, so keen on keeping up with EV progress.
This I 3 is a significant jump in progress with a very low weight , and @100 mile range, it 0/60 time is 7 ish seconds, so will be very brisk in the urban environment .
Thanks for posting, might go and have a drive of one, the car looks amazing, I bet BMW have spent millions developing it.

great piece of kit, I think it will sell well. Really want to see the i8 in the flesh, sounds awesome. Ive been told the 0-60 time around 4 seconds! one particular dealership has sold 9 already without any viewings, even the price hasn't been announced yet. The dealer told me they will be around 100k though:S

Wow! Amazing designs. Great for French roads but reckon some of the pot-holes around these parts would swallow one whole!

The way the Electricity Companies put up prices it may not be financially viable.

Its an interesting one with tax. If you run a gas-powered car (as in LPG or natural gas) legally you should pay tax on any gas you put in. So if you have a compressor to fill it from your mains, you should have some sort of meter fitted and declare the amount used for motor vehicles. a bit like fuel oil could be used for a diesel car, but its not taxed at the same rate. When will the same apply to electric cars? Its complicated by the possibility of then being taxed on energy you've created through regeneritive braking too. Or do you get tax breaks for power generation in that case, as with solar panels on houses?

I like the VW small electric car - should sell well in Yorkshire.

I'm an expert on these matters! (In as much as I've been taxed into near poverty all of my life.)
Fear not! Whichever bunch of self-serving amateurs are in 'government' when this car becomes widely available,
they'll make perfectly sure that you'll be hit equally hard in the pocket. Remember the price of diesel before
diesel cars became mainstream? You could design an engine that runs on rainwater and they'd figure out a way
of making it an expensive alternative.

The key is to design one that's powered by urine. Then, taxing it really will be taking the piss out of us all.
