My 2003 1.9d non turbo Berli van (is this the DW8?) has started to smoke badly and has no power. Its done 90k. I have recently changed the oil & filter. Put 5-30 fully synthetic long life oil in. It was running fine untill the other day when it struggled to pull up a hill, looking in the mirror it was pouring smoke from the exhaust. I got home and stripped and cleaned the EGR valve, intake etc. No change so replaced the fuel & air filters, no change. The smoke smells like parrafin, unburnt fuel I guess. Its now at a local garage where they think it could be the crank sensor. Anyone had a similar issue?? :brickwall:
I had the very same thing happen to me I thought that the engine had gone but then found out it was a blocked exhaust system replaced it from front to back and it run like new
crank sensors do cause issues with the late dw8's (the ones with the ecu mounted on the pass front strut area), almost sound like they are missing and overfuelling
Looking like a collapsed cat....
Sorted, new cat did the trick, goes like a good-un now, well with 71 horses anyway.....
