oil change help
Hey all I have lingo mk2 1.6 hdi 07 just wondering how many litres of oil I need for a change and type of oil I need. Any particular brand? Thanks olie
Carlube recommend 5/40 fully synthetic diesel and 4.7 litres ! Hope this helps ? Roy
Thanks mate
Using the CarLube website search, 5w-40 is NOT the right grade

They recommend TRIPLE R 5w-30 C2 but I can't find the spec sheet. Any oil used must meet Norm PSA B71 2290.
'Kay! Found it and it's OK to use....take a look:

My advice would be to change your oil every 6-8000 miles as these engines are very hard on the oil used in them.

Looking through my Carlube book they only recommend 5/30 from 2008 fitted with dpf before that its 5/40 , the best way is to give your reg number to a good motor factors as the oil also changes with the year and mileage , I agree half the mileage with the oil changes it will keep the engine running better !
Funnily enough I've been asking the same questions today, my Berlingo is a 56 plate 1.6hdi (75). Eurocarparts come back with 5/40 and 5/30 under a reg search (along with others...try yours) always having used 5/30 C2 I saw 5/40 was on offer/cheaper so I gave them a call, saying it was a bit confusing. They confirmed I needed 5/30 C2 (low saps), which I will double check with Citroen tomorrow to be concrete.

EDIT just checked Nielsens webby and 1st up is QUARTZ INEOECS5W-30 (low saps) followed by 5/40 and 10/40
Its a mine field ! I service a lot of cars and keep 10 different oils in stock and still dont have the correct one ! Just done a service on a bmw m5 it took 8 litres cannot remember what grade it was but I remember the price £96 for 9 litres ! Ouch
I've just spoken to Citroen Sale and if they were servicing my car they'd use fully synthetic 5w40. There's no harm using C2 5w/30 (low saps) it simply has less particulate in it. I thought it worth a double check so rang Citroen Manchester, they said I could use 4 types, 0/30, 5/30, 5/40, 10/40, I asked type of engine and it's a DV6 TD.
So its lucky dip then?
Oil shandy; mix a bit of each in there. Big Grin
