Thanks but that seems a bit extreme and I wouldn't have a clue what to do, pretty good at DIY but I wouldn't to screw it up completely.

Problem solved, Nothing ion the manual though.
Mirror in normal position where it clicks, then move it forward, I didn't know I could do this so I was reluctant to push the mirror forwards in case it broke.
So far it has held it's position on the motorway and windy conditions.
Hey presto, blind spot much smaller.
