Depends on how involved you want to get ?
Is it for a camper/sleeping in the rear ?
Easiest is probably going to be finding the relay for the boot popper, at the fuse/relay box. And add your own additional remote switch/ radio remote control.
You can get piggy back relay sockets, and simply add another relay/ momentary push button that you control.
Trying to do anything at the rear with the car off, you'll run into the problem of not having live power in the rear while the ignition is off.
Easier to "control" it from the source.

Just had another thought.
If the vehicle is unlocked while your trying to open it from the inside, you "should" be able to add your own switch to the inner of the tailgate.
Simply connecting to the wires or the existing outside switch.
No need for anything more complicated.

I've never had the tailgate trim off to look at the wiring.
It may just be a simple two wire switch. (The parts list isn't detailed enough to tell.)
It would just be a simple case of connecting your own switch across those two wires, to complete the circuit, using another switch.
I don't have access to the wiring data at the moment, but when I do I'll try and post the diagram.

You don't happen to have the tinted glass with the opening rear glass ?

Shame, you could just pop the window and reach out to open the door ! Lol
Or what I was thinking, was you being able to use the wiring for the tailgate hatch, to pop the actual tailgate.
But it's a mute point, as you don't have it.

It's a
moot point. Does the catch operate electrically or is it just the lock ? You still have to open the door manually on our Mk2 after the lock has undone it are Mk3 different ?
So where does this bit go then ?

Thanks for calling out my dyslexia !! Lol
The MK3 is an electric pop, then the tailgate is opened manually.
I can only think PCH is mafia health & safety, hence the need for an escape hatch ;-)
