Have just puchased an early 2002 1.9. Am at present trying to sort out a noisy auxilary belt..
There is so little room under the bonnet compared with the Minor, its full of more stuff to go wrong. Still, on with the neoprene gloves.

Hello and welcome to Berlingoland. I know what you mean about room under the bonnet, and those metric spanners ..... Arrghhhhh !

When you replace the belt pay particular attention to the pulleys - spin them for noise and slack - and replace if in any doubt. Clean the pulleys and grooves before fitting the belt.

Oh and by the way whilst you are in the area and it is part dismantled it might be a good idea to look at replacing the timing belt for piece of mind and anyway it may be this making the noise.

Big nostalgia moment thinking of getting lifts from a college pal who had access to his folks Morris Minor , f plate with red leather , and as I recall an amber flashing indicator stalk :thumbsup:
