Again, can't say how good it is, but doesn't make it worse!Confusedcratch:

Hey up Martin, thinking of trying an additive in mine.
What do you think of the Redex?
Have you tried Forte? used that on occasions in the old Pug and it seemed to improve things a bit, just a bit concerned about the injection system with the HDI's as a bit less tolerant than the old regime...

I use Forte twice per year,1 on first holiday tank,2nd new year as a dyno rod jobbie.I think that is where my good MPG is helped.Highly recommended.Mine's a 1.6 HDI

I have the 1600 HDi too.
I always start my trips with a full tank and refill when I return.
My first round trip of 300 miles returned 52 mpg Smile.
My second round trip of 433 miles returned 56 mpg Big Grin.
On the second trip I used Millers diesel treatment.....

I always go over 400 miles before filling as the greater mileage gives less room for inaccuracy when working out MPG,it averages out better.

Did Aberdeen (and back!) yesterday from Stoke-on-Trent, took 13hrs Confusedillyme: using motorway/dual-carriageways at 65-75mph.
766 miles and did 51 mpg.
Not a scientific experiment under lavatory conditions...
(Used 68ltrs which is approx. 15gallons.)Confusedtudy:
Think 51mpg is pretty good under those conditions, if had stuck to 60mph there and back would have expected a bit more.

Perhaps those Peugeot mudflaps are disrupting the airflow and slowing you down.... should have bought Citroen

I'm really surprised at this thread, because I bought a 57 plate 1.6 HDI last Monday. Collected it from Rochdale and then drove it straight to Grimsby and back, which was a 200 mile round trip, tootled around locally for a couple of days and did something in the region of 400 miles on 40 quid. It worked out about 60 miles to the gallon. My old 1.9 MK1 Berlingo used to do about 500 miles to a tank. This one is going to blow that out of the water!

If there are no signs that something is wrong, then dont doubt the van.

You could try one of those redex fuel cleaners, but im not sure how effective they are in reality.

I got the timing belt replaced 2 days ago as there was 105k kilometers on the van. Also got the waterpump done to be sure

51mpg is very good considering your average speed. I drove Glasgow to Ascot in August and i only averaged 42mpg at 70mpg with cruise on.
