Spring assisters?

I have a Romahome based on a Berlingo 1.6 2008. This is my only vehicle and as I live on an island where our roads aren't the smoothest, find I often scuff the underneath.

A rallying friend has sugested fitting spring assisters on the rear springs; local garage has suggested fitting harder springs to the front.

Has anyone done either of these? Was it successful?

Have you any suggestions for lessening the "bounce" or generally raising the van's clearance?
