seat belt warning
#1
Hi, can anyone give me advice on my problem. When I drive my berlingo the seat belt alarm won't go offf for almost a minute and when it does the warning light on the dash stays lit.
Here is the killer, if I put my window wipers on intermittent then the seat belt alarm does the same, makes a noise till wipers activate, then silent for a second, then back to beeping noise, then if I put the wipers on constant the alarm goes off, but as soon as I put the wipers off the alarm starts up again.
When the wipers are turned off completely, the alarm beeps for a minute or so then goes off.
I changed the seat belt anchor and cable harness ( small black cable to a clip ) under drivers seat and made no difference, any and all help appreciated,
Gibson24600.

To help you accurately we will need the year and model of your Berlingo.
This sounds to me like a BSI (or similar) fault....maybe a bad earth connection.

Hi o'j, thanks for the reply, I have a 2003 1.9 hdi, I believe its facelift model with bigger headlights.
I have thought it may be relay or suchlike but there is no manual with it so cannot check what is what...
What is BSI ?
The driver floor pan is wet so looked at wires from seatbelt and they run to handbrake centre consul so ruled out damp connection or bad earth, am I wrong ?
Appreciate your input and assistance,
Gibson24600.

Hi guys, just thought I would update on my previous problem re bsi unit.
It is now august and my alarm has been going off like I said Initially all this time.
Last week it just stopped making a racket, just out of the blue, perhaps it took that long to dry out, not sure, but very happy........no more blasting radio or wearing ear protection lol.
Maybe not the best way to cure it but I'm happy.[/i]

Lol

The scuttle might be blocked letting in water which has been dripping on your bsi unit

With all the good weather it might have had chance to dry out.

I would check the scuttle for blockage and bsi for water ingress firstly.

Then do a bsi reset
