Hi everyone

I joined the Forum today and thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Deal, Kent, and am the very proud owner of a 2007 (57 reg) red Berlingo MkII. The car is a replacement for an expensively umreliable Renault Espace, itself a replacement for a Peugeot 406 estate which was written off following a collision with a motorcyclist. It was his fault, by the way!

The Berlingo is a fantastic vehicle, so practical and roomy. I collect old mopeds and cyclemotors and am an active member of the National Autocycle & Cyclemotor Club. I run the Kent Section and am the National Regalia Secretary so I have lots of machinery and goods to take to rallies and shows up and down the country. I'm also involved with a barn conversion in the Dordogne so the legendary fuel consumption figures will be a bonus on trips to St Pardoux la Riviere. I've already recorded 55mpg on a run to Birmingham from Deal.

I really can't think why I waited so long to become a Berlingo owner - unless the fact that my mate would have called it the Citroen Belinda (after an old girlfriend) - which would have got me into hot water with the Former Mrs Burford57 - had a bearing on it!

I'm investigating ways to convert the Belinda - sorry , Berlingo - into a camper. I've been offered a used Amdro Boot Jump but I think that it would take up too much room in the garage when not in use. Plan B involves a Caranex, a kind of rear awning. This fitted the 406 and I'm waiting for an opportunity to trial-fit it to the MkII. I can remove the rear seats and use an inflatable mattress and sleeping bag. Blackouts have been made using a cardboard template and foil-backed polystyrene foam - the type you stick behind radiators to reflect heat back into a room.

I've checked out the threads on fitting permanently-live 12v sockets, some very useful tips there. Dark tinted film for the rear windows is also on my "wants" list.

My partner, the Lady Isabelle, reckons that waving to fellow Berlingo owners, especially red ones, is a bit sad so I have to exercise restraint when I'm in her company.

I look forward to being an active member of the Forum, contributing where I can, and above all learning from those with more experience of ownership than I have.

Regards to all
Nick D.

Welcome to the show. It's a real mash-up of types and plans, as you would have seen.
Thanks Addo.

My bike club is very similar but it all adds to the fun!
