Hello all, I have 2006 (56 plate) Berlingo with modutop. I'm wanting to put a roof box on but am wary of over stressing the modutop. My roof box won't fit using the supplied roof bars mounted transversely so I was thinking of fastening another set of bars across at the right distance-does anyone have any experience of using such an arrangement? Should I just look to get a trailer instead? Thanks for any advice.

You can use cross bars (with the existing side rails) but this still leaves you with the issue of stressing the top. Alternatively, use the roof's foot-mounts that are present as well. There should be three rectangular slots on each side of the roof. If these are the correct distance apart for your box, then there are many bars that will fit, and the weight is carried on the main car structure.
Personally, I prefer driving with a roof box rather than a trailer.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

I use extra roof rails on top pf my longitudinal rails, see photos, carried sit on canoes[2] on top with bikes behind on rack and caravan in tow to scotland and back. Had no issues. Had them on permanently for 15 months now. No problems.
Cheers
Pete.

There is a weight limit to the bars of 35kg.
As long as you don't exceed that, you shouldn't have a problem.
