Either way, the oil will rot your durite, radiator flushes will remove much of the oil. I recommend removing all rubber hoses and scrubbing them inside much as possible after a couple of flushes.
Thanks for the advice. Wouldn't be sure yet whether it is the gasket, but the whole sump has ended up in the water so he thinks the cooler is most likely. What is durite?
You can flush all the oil out with a washing powder and water solution, or forte bio degreaser or dae eco radiator flush. It will take a few weeks to get all the oil out though, flush weekly.. is a mission!

Chuck a dishwasher tablet in the header, plain water with no antifreeze, run for 20 miles then drain down and flush
refill with antifreeze/ coolant
