Hello.

Sad
Hiya,just dropped in,bought a 58 plate 1.6hdi first today for some light haulage work after two and half years off work following a heart attack,cant be bothered in the required stress test to get my hgv licence back so as I'm bored rigid at home and doc says ok for light work i'm going self employed with goods in transit/hire+reward insurance and doing 3 or 4 days with the company my son works at in the despatch office, only light stuff, pick up and deliver,not multi-drop, cars done 44k and is spotless in and out with all the history so im hopefull it'll do me for a couple of years,was quite surprised at the cost of road tax,my old 02 1.8tdci focus was £70 for 6 months,according to .gov site this is £123, thought my old smoker would have been more..anyway, here's a couple of pics,dont know much about them at all and I usually find reading the forums beforehand frightens the life out of me,my lad says that 50% of his subby drivers have them so was hoping for a relatively reliable motor..discuss !!

owner was a business man that used it for the odd transportation of rolled rubber (dont know,and didn't ask,dont think it was for gimp masks) so like new in and out,better than some I've viewed,battered and filthy but described as tidy :-)

thanks for that,just read about the oil feed problem for the turbo (gulp) he showed me some service records,plenty of oil changes, 3 times it's had a flush during the change,I take it it's better not to leave it the 12500 miles between changes then ?

No.For bumbling around,change oil @ 6,000 miles.You can stretch intervals to 8,000 if doing mainly long trips.Personally I would stick to 6.Use the oe oil & filter.Nielsons do total oil at good prices & GSF do filters ditto.Just recommendations on my part.Confusedalut::thumbsup:

all advice taken onboard,only looked for one when the son told me 50% of his owner drivers use them,not much short mileage work as it's not multi drop,very light stuff usually,did a yorkshire to brighton last week for example,using my focus,but if it saves problems down the line an oil and filter change is an easy option,I read that their a tad undergeared for motorway work (not picked it up yet so dont know) but as my last 17 years were sat at 54mph 60 seems quick enough for me,MPG is more important to me than MPH,it's kitted out with a ply bulkhead so surely that'll help the noise from the rear.thanks for the advice....Ian

At a constant 60 MPH my 1.6 HDi multispace does 60 MPG.At 70 it's 50.Light throttle & braking is the trick.:thumbsup::wave:
