belingo engine noise
#1
Hi all. New to berlingo ownership and the forum and am here as I have an issue with my 07 1.6 hdi 16v. The symptoms are. Rough idle and some smoke from start up on cold. Once warm and when driving this has gone but when you change gear and revs fall back down there is a strange diesel knock sound a bit like over run on a petrol engine. This only happens if revs are below 2k .Citreon garage tested injectors replaced two and said it's fine but it's still doing it. It goes ok but there is definitely something not right with it.any ideas. Thanks

Don't know about rough idle, but this engine doesn't like to be dragged below cca 1500 rpm.
It will protest with harsh vibration and noise and then it starts to run properly around 1500 rpm, and pulls with full torque at 1750 rpm.
You can read in the datasheet that max torque is at 1750 rpm (which is nice) but they don't say that low rpm margin is very narrow, so it takes some time to get used to it.

this is not under load ie I have my foot on the clutch. It will not make this noise if I carefully ease off the accelerator when changing gear. If you accelerate hard put foot on clutch as if you were changing gear and allow revs to fall back to idle you get the knock from below 2k down to about 1200 rpm. I think it must be a fuel issue possibly another injector. Any advise would be good.
