Internal Bike rack/stand
#1
Iv seen a post somewhere with someone mentioning having the bikes inside, which I plan to do anyway.
Was looking for and way of doing it with front wheel off so can stand of the forks, anyone done it or got a good way. So can still use rest of the boot space.

Had an idea with maybe finding a donor chair as I have the 3 single spilt chairs taking the seat off and using the lock section of the frame so that can build/mod to make a stand.

Any ideas and with pics would be great.

Hi,

We regularly have bikes inside our Berlingo. Normally the rear seats are out anyway so don't even take the front wheels off just attach them with shock-cord/bungees to the internal roof rack.

For extended trips I do have bike bags for the road bikes but when using bags , where, obviously, the bike's wheels are removed anyway, the bags only fit in lengthwise not, as I had hoped, crossways inside the rear hatch. This is using Evoc bike bags. Need to get a slightly bigger van next time,,,,

Renault used to do one for the MkI/II Scenic like the chainreaction item. It fitted to the mounts of the removable seats.

I often have 2 mountain bikes vertically in the back (with rear seats removed). The catches for the (removed) rear seats provide good anchors for bungees as well as the rings in the floor.

It works fine, never had a bike even move let alone fall, obviously they need to be secure in the event of an accident etc.

Had the bike in last night, was going to take pic but forgot.
Bike in one seat removed, front wheel in rear passengers foot-well.
Bungee around the bike stem to the internal roof rack, then bungee to the rear door grab handle keeps the bike up and stops it swinging around.
Just need to get a cover of sorts or give a good wipe down before going in the car.

Can just about squeeze two in the back of the van if most of my work gear comes out

With my gear in mine will go in down the middle, front wheel intrudes into the cab slightly but its livable..Bungee cord it to the sides.
