Wheels Painted
#1
Today I have been mostly painting my Berlingos wheels

Rusty before and wired brushed after.

I cleaned them up with a wired brush and then painted the back of them with silver Hammerite

Then sprayed the fronts with a tin of 5 wheel steel paint, bit darker than original but a lot less rusty

I remember when I did it for a friend to freshen up his Corsa. Good times

The Berlingo needs it as well to be honest but I'm really digging the hub caps on this car. It just looks better with them on. Hammerite is alright but I try to avoid it when I'm doing jobs for myself. And yes in the photos it's Hammerite, no primer

I piked out on some wheels late last year and dropped them to a friendly panel shop. $600 for three rims to be sandblasted and painted in 2K. Definitely a serious saving possible if you DIY.

Mine didn't actually cost me anything to do, I had the Hammerite for the back of the wheels from another job sitting in the shed and one of my mates gave the can of spray paint about 5 years ago so I used that to do the front of the wheels. Suppose it took me about 4 hours to do but I had a day off so it was good to do something positive rather than surf the net or goggle box the time away.

600$? You are mental! For that money you can buy BBS split rims or some Keskin/Brock/Borbet wheels. I paid 100gbp for 4 MiM's. Next on my list is banded steels

Wow I'd be wanting new rubber on the rims as well for that price.

Wire brush attachment in a grinder cleans rims up quick and easy, inside and out.
