WATER LEAK IN THE QUARTER PANEL
#1
Greetings to all

Looking for some advice in case some else has come across the following (had a search on previous posts but no joy)

Took off the inside back trim to install wiring for tow bar, only to come across a puddle of water inside the back quarter panel on the passenger side (LHS)

Have put a smear of instant gasket on the top grommet feeding the tailgate, also used electrician tape to cover the rear light hole on the body but leak still there

Removed the back driver side trim and it is also leaking but not as bad as the passenger side

Any ideas or experiences gratefully appreciated in advance

Hi Polar

thanks for taking the time to reply

At first this is what I thought, however, covered the aperture with electrician tape. Water leak was still there but not as bad...

The second place that I looked at was the tailgate stop, there is one on either side.... having applied a bead of instant gasket appears to have solved the leak.

Therefore to my mind there has been a lek in two places i.e. the light cluster and the tailgate stop

Given the electrics concealed in that space worrying as hooking up to Lexia it reported a short to earth on both sides

Will update this thread after leaving it a bit and the acid test of pressure washer

Try a normal hose on a fine spray - get someone to use the hose while you get in the vehicle.

This is what we used to do when i worked at the dealers - i have even found leaks between panels and spot welds this way.

Best of luck.
