Can't find Motor Serial number - presale
#1
Thanks in advance!

Buying this car, finalizing the purchase soon, and one of the things on my checklist is to make sure the number on the engine matches that on the paperwork. Very messy if it doesn't match - and I'd rather the previous owner took care of it rather than me if that turns out to be the case.

Looked all over the normal places - mainly around the top of the engine - didn't undo any plastic cover plates tho - I doubt it's under there anyway. But where?

I hope it's a 2-second answer for someone here - and yes I used search and didn't come up with anything since "engine" and "number" are not very unique words.

Thanks again,

Hey mate, is it a DW8 series engine? As in, does the VIN have a WJY or WJZ in it?

See Section 2 for ID location and setout: http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/repair-206...bb16k3.htm

Thanks. Yes, the VIN has got a WJY. And, it's got a half-plastic cover, which means DW8 according to this:

That should sort it; the VIN is allegedly just above the oil pan flange, towards the tranny.

Seriously, I would not have thought to crawl around and look there for a number. From the diagram it looks like the right spot tho. I'll confirm it when I get my eyes on that engine again in a coupla days. Thanks for your help Addo.
