High load retaining net
#1
I need a net that attaches from ceiling to the top of the rear seats so that I can fully load my boot while carrying three kids in the back (mark 2).

I think the owner's manual calls this a high load retaining net (but could be for only when the rear seats are folded down). The dealer I asked didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

I guess there's little chance to get an original. So can anyone recommend a generic 'cargo net' type thing, please? e.g. what size/shape would I need? And how would I attach it to the ceiling/seats?

I'm looking for a 'soft' net for occasional use, rather than something 'hard' installed like a dog guard.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Hi and welcome to the forum Pete.

I have been looking for exactly the same thing for mine. I couldn't find one in the accessories list so have not been able to find a part number. If Citroen did one then you will probably still be able to buy one from a dealer. Please let us know if you find anything.

I have just bought a cargo net for my van.
Good size, about 6' x 4'.
Loads of moveable/removable clips.
Think about £7.
Great quality, too.
Will post link when find it.
Thank you.

Can send you a picture of it in my van, if you really want me to...

Hi Martin, the sort of thing that I am after would go vertically from just behind the rear seats to the roof. Is that how yours is fitted?

Hi Chris and Coco,
The cargo net I have could be fitted in many ways. Think it is bigger than you need, so could be doubled-up (even better for strength). Has about 12 strong plastic hooks that can be moved/removed. The net itself is strong too.
Worth a try for the price.
£8.00ish against £135.00.Confusedcratch:

Thanks for the replies.

Good to get the part number, though it's way beyond my budget!

Martin, That cargo net looks tempting. The description says "Bungee" which suggests to me it's quite stretchy. Do you think you could get it tight enough to retain a floor-to-ceiling load?

I had another look inside the car today. I saw what I assume are capped holes in the roof. Presumably these can be opened up and hooks can somehow attach here. Not sure where to attach the bottom of the net though. I guess the genuine retain net has a bar that slots into the parcel shelf attachment.

As you say for £8.50 I may as well take a punt on something. It's just that I need this pretty soon-ish and want to try and get something that will work first time hopefully.

Thanks again.

Hi Pete,
It is stretchy, but not so much as it reaches its limit.

This is a listing for another one. 75cms square and stretches to twice the size.
Back to mine...
I use it to secure a (euro) pallet of boxed electrical goods in back of my van, using the 6 Berlingo load points.
The advantage of my net is that no two pallets are the same size (height/quantity of boxes) so the net allows flexibility of securing.
Usually a fairly valuable load, that needs to arrive at the customer in excellent condition.
Not had a pallet move yet, even under braking.
Works for me...
And at the price you can't go wrong.

I took out on of the 'studs' in the ceiling: turns out they are plugs about 20mm long, leaving a hole about 8mm in diameter. Not sure how I'd hook onto that. Use an expanding wall plug, maybe?!

My latest thinking is to get a cheap rigid universal dog guard e.g. this £25.99 from Halfords:

No doubt it won't be a great fit but I guess I can pack the large items (e.g. stacks of crates) against the guard to keep the smaller stuff from ending up on the back seat!

I meant to have a look to see what was under the circular covers on the rear pillars as these look like they might be some sort of mounting point.
