load sensing valve
#11
The load sensing valve is there to stop the arse-end locking up under heavy braking on an unladen van. The car version has a pressure reducing valve. The consequence of the rear locking up is that the van is likely to spin as the locked wheels have a tendency to try and come round to the front. Not quite F-k all difference.

Always follow the rule : "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". It's there for a good reason.

Its easy to free up and there is a new spring available on ebay. Its a simple job but access makes it very fiddly. Removing spare wheel and right side rear wheel helps, as does very good lighting. The old spring is best cut off with a good quality fine hacksaw blade rather than trying to move the old adjuster with the hex nut in it.

Hello, I am a vehicle technical inspection operator, and the best thing you can do is go directly to have it cleaned at a dealership or an itv, greetings

If rear brakes lock 'prematurely' you'll more than likely run out of talent, lose control and have a big accident - hardly worth it when the real solution is to fix the thing properly.   Undecided

Just done mine getting it ready for its MOT. Bought the Ebay replacement spring.
My load sensing valve was seized in position, penetrating spray and a bit of wiggling had it moving again. Managed to remove the torx grub screw from the old spring.
Easy job but I have long thin fingers!
Top tip for installing the adjusting nut (or any nut in difficult to reach positions where you can turn the bolt) - cover the ring end of a spanner with kitchen roll/small piece of cloth/paper etc and push the nut through the material into the ring end of the spanner thus trapping and stopping the nut falling out of the spanner.
