DV6ATED4 1.6hdi engine oil choice
#11
The recommended oil, the AP-L 5W-30 spec is ACEA C2; PSA B71 2290. Meets the requirements of Fiat 9.55535.S1

The ECT C3 5W-30 spec is ACEA C3; API SN; MB Approval 229.51, 229.31; BMW LL-04; GM dexos2TM; Chrysler MS-11106

The ACEA website states

ACEA C2 Stable, stay-in-grade oil intended for use as catalyst compatible oil in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance car and light van diesel and gasoline engines designed to be capable of using low friction, low viscosity oils with a minimum HTHS viscosity of 2.9mPa.s. These oils will increase the DPF and TWC life and maintain the vehicles fuel economy. Warning: these oils are unsuitable for use in some engines. Consult owner manual or handbook if in doubt.

ACEA C3 Stable, stay-in-grade oil intended for use as catalyst compatible oil in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance car and light van diesel and gasoline engines, with a minimum HTHS viscosity of 3.5mPa.s. These oils will increase the DPF and TWC life. Warning: these oils are unsuitable for use in some engines. Consult owner manual or handbook if in doubt.

None of that means anything to me but I think it might be better to follow the advice on oil manufacturer website, yes?

Yeah did post wrong photo thanks for reminding me Opensauce.

Here photo of correct oil, sorry for the confusion.

Hey all, sorry to revive and old thread.
I've looked up the recommended oil online and its coming back as the INEO 5W 30 and the 0W 30.
What are your thoughts?
Should I get the 0W or 5W, or will it make any difference?

I thought the 0W30 was for the stop/start engines but i could be wrong.

Oil manufacturers should drop the bullshit (pardon my language) and go back to good old general 5W30, 5W40 and such...
All this malarkey of "oh this 5W30 is for VW" "and this one is for your Peugeot"...
I don't really buy the crap...
I personally dislike the fad about long life oils and watering them down as much as they are today...
I know tolerances have decreased over the years tho...

I've always assumed my 2009 1.6 has the DPF. Where do I look for it and what will I see?

I've always put 5w30 in my 2014 berlingo 1.6 90 hp and it runs perfectly

I asked my Cit garage whether 0W30 is now specced for new Cits but was told the ineo ecs 5W30 was fine for all cars up to new & is what they use in all their servicing.

Arf. DPF on mine was underneath just behind engine. Look underneath car at front of front door. Looks like a box on the exhaust.

On my 2010 110HP XTR, the DPF is on the front of the engine directly below the turbo

The box underneath must be a silencer then? That was my '09 XTR 110. On my new Berl. there are pipes going into that box underneath behind engine. Presumably that is where the AdBlue goes in? Is that DPF or is that the silencer box with DPF elsewhere? Looking under bonnet below turbo there is another box so that will be DPF then? So pre 2011 90bhp should just have straight pipe going down from turbo if there is no DPF, yes?
